Frequently Asked Questions

What is travertine and why choose it for furniture?

Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by mineral springs. We often describe it as the "wood" of the stone world because of its warm beige tones and organic texture. It is the perfect choice if you want the durability and weight of stone but crave the cozy and natural feel usually provided by timber

How long does a travertine table last?

If you take care of it then it will last a lifetime. Consider the Roman Colosseum. It was built almost entirely from travertine nearly 2,000 years ago and is still standing. It is an incredibly resilient material.

Can you customise the size and finish of a travertine table?

Absolutely. We can cut the stone to your exact required dimensions. regarding the surface, we offer both a shiny Polished finish and a subtle Matte finish. Most of our clients choose the Matte option as it highlights the natural beauty of the stone without being too reflective.

Do travertine tables scratch or mark easily?

Travertine is robust but it is still a natural stone that requires care. It is sensitive to acidic spills like lemon or wine so we always recommend using coasters. However, the natural movement and pattern in the stone make it excellent at hiding minor daily wear compared to glass or plain white surfaces.

What is the lead time for a bespoke travertine table from Travertable?

Our typical production time is around 10 to 20 business days. We do not rush the process as this allows our artisans to select the best block, hand-carve the shape, and apply protective sealants properly before it leaves our workshop.
